Logy Bay is also the home of the Ocean Sciences Research Centre, a part of
Memorial University of Newfoundland. The facility conducts research into a
variety of marine and oceanographic subjects. Guided tours are conducted for the
public regularly through the facility, with one of the most popular attractions
being the seal tanks and the resident seals. The town is also an extremely
popular scuba diving site, however, particular attention should be paid to
weather conditions before attempting a dive into the rocky underwater terrain.

Newfoundland Sikh Society Gurdwara and Cultural Centre

Founded over 500 years ago, with a following of over 20 million, Sikhism is the world's fifth largest religion. Its philosophy is based on teachings contained in the Guru Granth Sahib or Sikh Holy Scriptures, a collection of writings by Sikh founders and religious leaders of other faiths. Sikhs believe in one universal God, sharing through charity and community service and the rejection of distinctions based on creed, race, caste or sex. Sikh temples are referred to as
Gurdwaras, meaning "the gateway to the Guru." A person may enter a Gurdwara regardless of their religion. The Sikh religious service is centered on kirtan (singing of Sikh hymns), and ends with Parshhad (sacred offerings) and occasionally sharing of a community meal. The Newfoundland Gurdwara is the centre for 25 Sikh families in the province, located at 680 Logy Bay Road.

Logy Bay-Middle Cove-Outer Cove Museum

Located
in the town hall, the museum celebrates the history of the three communities
which were amalgamated and incorporated in 1986. Irish immigrants began to
settle in the area from the Counties of Kilkenny, Waterford, Wexford and
Cork in the early nineteenth century, taking advantage of its location to
the inshore fishing grounds and the land’s suitability for agricultural
development. Exhibits at the museum showcase the community’s military
history in an exhibit dedicated to local men who served in both World Wars.
Domestic artifacts are also displayed including various dishwares and a
spinning wheel. Christian and church life are also featured, complete with a
variety of sick call sets, candles, and pictures of former parish priests
who served in the community. In addition, fishing and agricultural tools and
implements relating to the community’s occupational history are also
displayed. Exhibits at the museum also highlight the laying of a
trans-Atlantic cable at Middle Cove Beach in 1953 and the Royal St. John’s
Regatta record of 9:13, set by the Outer Cove crew of 1901 and were later
inducted into the Canadian Sports Hall of Fame. The site also has an archive
which contains documents and photos of local genealogies, and past community
scenes.
